Turn Your Home Into a Palace.

• Each princess and knight should be greeted at the door by the prince and escorted down the red carpet (red tablecloth taped to the floor) to the Ball. If you don’t have your own prince, choose from this great selection of cardboard standees.  Be sure to take a picture as each princess or knight comes in! These make great thank you notes!

Set the Mood

• Let each guest know they should come dressed for the ball on the invitation. Make sure that each little girl gets her own crown and wand when they first walk into the palace and each knight receives his sword. Or combine a party hat and craft idea by having each princess create their own hat.

• Mom and daughter can wear matching princess outfits. You can enlist your husband or some other male relative or friend to act as prince for the day.  Have the prince answer the door and escort each princess down the red carpet to the ball.

Decorations

• Why not use purple, gold, and red as your colors? Try to make it look more like a fancy royal table rather than a children’s party.   Include some candles and whole pumpkins in the center of the table with some gold plastic plates,  castle napkins, and gold plastic utensils for the table. Hang some netting across the ceiling over the table with some sparkling white lights to make it look even more elegant.

Here are some craft party planning ideas. Many mom’s like to have a craft activity before the cake and ice cream. If this is your plan, before the children arrive, spread and tape plastic tablecloths on the floor and lay out the craft kits with each child’s name on them in a big square with your art supplies scattered in the center. After the birthday party kids are done with their project, have them leave their craft to dry. Choose one from the selection below. Be sure to check if extra materials like glue are required and order enough supplies. We also recommend having a few extra kits on hand for those that make a major error or those siblings that sometimes show up at parties!

BPK Tip: Use plastic tablecovers to protect your tables and your floor from the spills of little crafters. Even easier are plastic tablecover rolls in eaither 100 or 300 foot rolls. Use the same rolls for your table covers. If you think “outside of the box” you’ll find tons of other uses for the leftover roll.

For younger kids, layout the tablecovers and tape them to to the floor with painters tape. Lay out one activity per child and the craft supplies down the middle. When you are ready to begin the craft, each child can find a place to begin their craft. Here’s the best part, while the kids are having their cake and ice cream, simply remove the crafts and supplies and roll the tablecovers up and throw them away!
